What You Should Know Before Traveling to Iran

Iran is a large country in the Middle East. It has borders with Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's Naxcivan enclave, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan. The size of Iran is 1.648.195km². It has the population of 77.356.343 people. The capital city is Tehran. The country code is +98.

Before traveling to this country, you should know that citizens of Israel cannot enter into Iran. The same rule applies to citizens with stamps and visas from Israel. Citizens from most countries must apply for a visa upon their arrival. Citizens of the United States can apply for a visa to the Iranian Interest Section of the Pakistani Embassy in Washington. There are several types of a visa. You will have to contact your embassy in order to determine do you need a visa and what type you need.

The best way for traveling to this country is by plane. The main airport is the Imam Khomeini International Airport. It is 37 kilometers from Tehran. There is a good connection with the other cities in the region. You can travel by train as well. You can take a train from Turkey, Pakistan, Syria and several more countries. 

The national and official language in Iran is Persian. It is very hard to understand and talk. This language isn’t the same as Arabic. In fact, it is a lot different. A lot of road signs are written in English language, but some are written in Persian.

The official currency is the Iranian rial. There are a lot of ATMs, but they do not accept foreign credit cards.
