Checklist Before Cruising To The Bahamas

An archipelago of 700 islands and 2500 islets and numerous caves, Bahamas is one of the favourite cruising destinations across the Atlantic. It’s a beautiful country with a rich history that awes both scientists and travellers alike.

An average of 4 million tourists cruise the Atlantic into the Bahamas annually, aboard luxury ships. These ships are full are engulfed in carnival atmosphere with endless partying and other tourist activities.

As with international travel, cruising to Bahamas entails adequate preparations as listed below.


  1. Obtain a passport. On boarding a cruise ship, passengers are screened and are expected to present their valid passports from their country of origin.

  2. Get a visa. This isn’t required for US and Canadian citizens. However, non-Americans or non Canadian s may need a multiple-entry US visa and if necessary, a Bahamian visa.

  3. A valid ID.Besides a passport and a visa, travellers may be expected to present a valid government-issued identification card.

  4. Proof of citizenship. Naturalization isn’t likely to be accepted by the cruise line. Students may need to have a completed form 194 as well as valid signed paperwork from the school.

  5. Book the cruise ship at least 3 months prior to the travel date to get a good deal on the tickets.

  6. Inform the cruise line if you need special assistance such as adapted toilets in the communal areas, adapted armchairs, elevator and access ramps.

  7. Travel insurance.

  8. Check baggagerequirements of the cruise line when paying for the luggage. Comply with any rules, conditions, laws and regulations.
